Matt- Now you've got me thinking........if that SD60 is in Kentucky, I wonder if I caught it in Cresson, PA. Either way, lucky you! I'm jealous. I'll have to check my pix later. Rick

I dont know if its still sitting there as Ive not been by there since I took the picture. The train itself was heading north but had stopped in Whitley City for a signal. Im wondering if you caught this same one as well, Let me know when you get a chance.

Wow, I really like this thread – I can’t believe I’ve missed it for so long. There are lots of really cool shots in here! Here’s my mug on ATSF 97 at the Age of Steam museum in Dallas a few years ago.

Bob, on NS up here in Ohio, they don't let the crews smoke in the units anymore, do they have that rule there?

We have "restrictions" on where crews may or may not smoke on the trains, but as a whole, no big deal is ever made of smoking in the cabs. Some of our passenger runs have quick turnaround times....some as little as 8 minutes in the middle of rush hour in Penn Station, so having a quick smoke in the cab is the least of their concerns. Management just wants the trains moved on time! Smoking is still allowed on diesel locomotives, except for in the engine room....for obvious reasons (fuel, oil, fumes, etc). Of course, discretion is always advised.
