Hello all, I suppose it is time for my first photo diary of a build... I am not a super modeler by any means but I feel like this could be another way to have some fun with the hobby. Progress WILL BE SLOW but hopefully it will be done in due time. I started with a Athearn RTR C44-9W that lacked prototypical details and the paint scheme too "new" for my era. I figured since the cab was the part bothering me the most I might as well go completely Canadian with it and go with the 4 window safety cab made by Kaslo. (nice run-on) Where everything stands now... Target... www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=147303Next step is to strip the body and complete the assembly of the cab. We shall see how this goes, eh?

Nice! I love these Canadien (Canadian?) units! I have a question, where do you get the kaslo cab kit from and how much is it? Thanks! Can't wait to see progress!

Both work. Canadien is the french spelling. Good work so far. Can't wait for the finished product.

I got my Kaslo cab from Credit Valley Railway in Mississauga. You'll probably want to also get the CN dash 9 detail set, which includes anticlimber and ditch light castings. The cab is a nice kit, which includes a decent interior.
Looks good so far...

Nice start, are you gonna strip & paint the whole thing or try to match the factory paint?
