Hi I've been slowly working on an N-scale Alco C-636P. Spent a lot of time looking at the parts to use before modifying this plan based on a 1967 proposal for a cowl unit. Not totally happy with how it's going. Still playing with the frame and dynamic brakes, but it's starting to look like a loco. Will post again when I get time to progress it a little more. Cheers Steve Modelling NJ in NZ

Hi A little more progress on the C-636P, and just to show how big this unit is, here it is in a big Alco line up with a standard C-636 and an HR-616. I plan a repaint of the HR-616, to correct a couple of errors, so it's a little unfinished. May also repaint it as a demostrator when it ran CP Rail. Cheers Steve

No really Uncle Jay, he says in a post halfway down:
...here it is in a big Alco line up with a standard C-636 and an HR-616...
that's why I asked... Steve, did you also kitbash that one?

Hi Just a little update on my C-636P project. Sandfills, headlight, dynamic brake air intakes and a few doors added. The dynamic brake grid on the roof is only temporary. Still lots to do and so little time. Cheers Steve

The last I heard was that CC -CONCOR- released a N-SCALE C636 in 1984and was still available as of early 1990. Here's the link to spookshows review of the CC ALCO C 636 www.visi.com/~spookshow/loco/c636.htmlTom

Hi Managed to get time to work on the brutish C-636P again. Started the conversion of the HTC trucks to Alco's Hi-Ads. Need to add the stabiliser bars yet. Also have to start the fuel tank soon. The cab side windows need a little something and some other bits need tidying up. Also have to reattach the improved dynamic brakes and water expansion tank. There's a painting on the net, I think it's a Fogg, which shows how a C-636P would look in SP colours. I don't agree with the detail interpretation in the painting as they don't match the plans. But it's still a cool painting. A search for Alco C-636P will find it. More soon. Cheers Steve

Thanks for the kind words Puddlejumper. I do hope to finish it one day. So far it contains parts from: Kato PA, & PB, Life Like FA-2, & C-424, Atlas SD-50, C-630, RS-3, RS-11, MP-15, & B23-7, Con-Cor C-636.
It's fun, but is taking a while. Cheers Steve

Thanks for the kind words. Yep, snow on the mountains already, but not much ever falls in Alexandra. I may get work done, but it's too cold for painting. What you up to at the moment? Cheers Steve

Hi Guys It's been a while, but the C-636P is all but ready for it's demo colours. The decals are on their way. A couple of minor touch ups and a few more details. Looking OK if I must say myself. I couple of slight changes from the plans, but as close as I can get. Cheers Steve Alco builder
