Hi guys work has been crazy of late so I have not had as much time to post stuff as I would like. Here is a recent UP C36-7 that I completed. The engine started life out as a Atlas C30-7. This kit bash has parts from Cannon, Details West, Details Associates, and Hi Tech Details. Also of note this unit is painted with Tru-Color paints this company may be a new name to everyone. Tru- Color is based of of AZ and they are the same formulation of the old SMS Accu-Paints. I was very pleased with how thin these paints go on. They offer almost all the old colors SMS offered, plus there are many other colors they offer that SMS did not. I plan on doing some more of these units and if you guys would like to see the step by step process let me know, and I will start a thread showing how I do it. Enjoy Erik

Thanks Guys. I will be starting up two more of these units this week. So I will start the step by step this week. Jay as for thinner I have been using the thinner Tru-color offers. I have experimented with acetone and denatured alcohol with no luck. Their thinner is very pricey but I love the results. It also helps my local hobby shop is the only one in the country that stocks the full line. But Tru-color is very customer friendly company, I have had the owner call me from AZ to make sure that I was happy with the product & if there were any colors that I would like to see in the future. They plan to offer about 6 new color every 6 months. They put up a list of possible colors to come out on their web site and we get to vote on witch ones we would like to see. I too noticed the cat hair on the rear of the engine. With owning 5 cats 3 dogs 1 rabbit and 2 fish it is almost a forgone conclusion that a hair will show sooner than later. I guess it goes to show my eyes must not be as good as they once were, when a hair gets in my photos. But I wouldn't have it any other way we have rescued them all. Erik

Hi Mateus & Wesley,
Thanks for the kind words. It is always nice to know your work is appreciated. As for doing some more and showing how I did it not a problem. I have two to start a build on real soon. I have a few engines that I need to complete the builds on over the next few weeks and I will be starting on the C36-7's. I will do a step by step build here on the Double D, along with posting it on my web site blog. I am in the process of relaunching my web site in the next week as well. I will send you guys a PM once I start the build. On this next build I am going to do something cool to one of the units, but I will leave you in suspense until the build starts to find out what it is.
Thanks again Erik Erik

Looking forward to seeing the new build. Has Smokey Valley ever re-released the dynamic brake box?

I am not sure on SV releasing the part, but I use the one produced by Detail Associatiates.
If you need the part number I can look it up for you.

The Details Associates Part number is 3402 Dynamic Brake Box 'GE' C-36-7 Erik My mistake. I forgot it was DA. IIRC, it is long out of production.

Erik, can we get some close up shots of the dynamic brake section of this engine(both sides). I have a friend that is building one and there is some concerns about the correct size of the grills.
Also how about that step by step as I am planning a build on one also, and a parts list if you got one.
Thanks Erik
