Anyone tried adding dynamic brakes to a Pk2 SD9 that didn't have them? If so any thoughts you would care to share as a starting point? Pictures?
I got one for a really fair price but it didn't have DB. I was looking at starting with an Atlas SD35 DB and tweak to fit. It will wind up as a SD9E
I looked for a replacement shell but they are far and few between.

OOhhh a thought I would be willing to trade. It's Cheesie #1840

Walthers may still have the dynamic brake part for those models in stock. Might be worth trying there before making your own.

Thanks Mike.... That's why I ask the questions - have to keep the simple stuff - simple. I'll call them in the morning.
Still interested in other ideas just in case that doesn't work out

You can go to the A-Line/PPW website and purchase parts. I did this for a RPP SD9 several years ago that needed dynamic brakes.

It came yesterday !!! THANK YOU CHRIS!!!!!
I dunked the body into some iso to get the paint going and ran to the parts box for the SD35 fans. They fit like a charm. I'm almost certain that the same manufacturer made them for both company's as these were dead on. When the shell came out of it's bath - it was the easiest strip I ever did at about 20 minutes- the fans were even molded from the exact same color plastic.
The non DB was the hardest part I ever had to remove. No kidding, over 5 hours working on the lil bugger. A little debonder, wait, work at it, debonder, work some more, a gap , more debonder. But it's in now.
I have 3 others in the bath now. These will all be SD9Es when I'm done. I 'm going to try some cheap resin casting techniques for the first time to make the humps. I just need to decide on some road numbers for these to get some photos. I'll have to move the rest of this to the Whats on the Bench threads.
Thanks again Chris!!!!

Chris since you wouldn't let me send you some money, not even for the S&H, as small donation has been made in your name with Randy to the site.
Thanks again Steve
