An N scale Kato SD40-2 I did a little work to. BLMA fans, MU hoses, cut levers, cab shades, an Atlas plow and a little custom paint work to match the prototype. I still have the ILSX reporting marks to add, but it's getting close. The paint is factory, I just stripped off the decals and re-decaled using a couple of Microscale decal sets.

Here's the prototype for comparison. Oh, this is my first real attempt at detailing a locomotive and I'm pretty happy with it.

And if anyone can point me in the right direction for a correct looking set of decals for the ILSX reporting marks I would appreciate it. Karl

The fans are easier than I thought, I just did my second engine with them, another Kato and it took me a little over an hour including the time to drill out the molded fans. They make a huge difference in the visual. I'll be adding the fans to more of my engines because they look so nice.

Nice Job! I didn't know they made fans like that in N gauge.

Nice Job! I didn't know they made fans like that in N gauge. Thank goodness for BLMA, they do.
