For all to enjoy, I bring you fresh from the shops Athearn RTR SD60 demonstrator EMD 3. Complete with radial trucks! I painted te glare panel on the nose, then added DW plow, antennas, speed recorder. DA MU hoses, lift rings where appropriate, uncoupling levers. For the plate on the roof, i used a cannon toilet hatch, it looked proportionately right, and looked good, and finished up with a trimmed DW brass strobe stand. On the sideframes added Kato brake cylinders with molded air lines to all sides, they're slightly larger but really look good! I need to get this bad boy weathered and replace the cab glass. Finally the brains is run by an NCE D13SRJ decoder! Enjoy!

Great Job! Good crisp, clean detailing. Here's the prototype - I caught it in Tulsa, OK back in May 2004.

Looks great Eric. I've got the same thing but a Proto 2000, I think your Athearn one looks better though.

Great job on this engine Eric. I remember seeing this unit in service pulling coal train on the Alliance sub in Nebraska.

The Cannnon toilet hatch makes a BIG difference! I'll have to add them to my Oakways. Fortunately, I have ALL P2K SD60s, and BN SD60Ms, so I won't have to fight (as much) to get them speed matched. I had always planned on running them in a dedicated trainset anyway.... Keep up the great work!!!!! Rick www.fourrocksmodelworks.com

As far as I know, and pics will show, the EMD 3 was the only one to have this. The toilet hatch really worked out great, looks right.
