I'm sure it can be both, prototype and freelance, just as long as it's a shortline or regional. Now Randy, back me up on this! LOL

Well if fictional shortlines are okay I'll go first Finally, I get to contribute to the theme board!! This is my St Paul Southern shortline that I created about 3 years ago. This is the only loco I've modeled so far, but the whole roster is only 4 locos Its a Proto S2 (I think) that I added minimal details to and custom painted and decaled.

Okay, here is a fictional short line that I created when I got back into the hobby. This was so that I could buy any unit that I liked and have some continuity to my railroad. That lasted about 5 units, then my craving for prototypes kicked back in. What is neat about the Essex-Kent Short line (EKSL) is that the unit numbers are significant birth years of family members, and they happen to be my initials.

So this one requires a short background... before I was born, my dad created his own railroad, the Delaware Central. He used tuscan red, Guilford decals ("Delaware" from D&H and "Central" from MEC), and a modified Penn Central logo (cut off the bottom left corner of the P to make it a D). Here's a few examples: Anyway, this left a lot of half-used Guilford decals and a bunch of jars of tuscan red laying around.... so I figured the Delaware Central needed a subsidiary. Enter the Hudson & Maine. A rebuilt GP7: Rebuilt GP7 next to unrebuilt GP7: Rebuilt SD9 and a caboose: S-12:

nice job rudy, is that gp with a gp 35 cab? It's a chop-nosed Atlas GP7 (old yellow box from the 80's) with an Athearn SD40-2 cab that had the trademark dash 2 overhang on the back removed. I also removed the dynamics and the fan (pain in the @$$).

Great collection there, Erik. Just one question: Is that a London Transport inspired logo on the first engine?
