Pretty nifty. Is that a flag holder I see near the end by the radiator?

Yes sir Randy, it's a Details West part if I remember correctly.

Thanks Glenn! I did manage to mill off the inertial intake grilles last night and replace them with the 35 Line style. Now I'm working on the fuel tank. I should have some more progress photos up on Monday.

NO wonder he hasn't made any progress on it! He sold it, guess because of the move to Cali? Or does that happen when the client bails on the financial agreement? That's always been an issue in the back of my mind, what if they try to not pay you?
ANYWAY, nice work on the pickup Perry!

Perry, I'm assuming that's a Railflyer fuel tank? What about the coupler bracket? RFMP as well?

The fuel tank is a custom resin casting, not a Railflyer part. The coupler lift bar brackets are Details Associates with a custom bent coupler lift bar made from brass.

Nope, the fuel tank is my own design from EMD and field measurements. I get them cut from a pattern maker. He does all my custom parts. It is cut from ABS plastic. The tank is not a resin casting.
I am not able to find ANY reliable resin casting services. So when I need a tank or something, I call the machinist and he cuts me what I need.
As for the lift rings, I highly recommend them. Very easy to use.

Oh my bad Brian! I thought it was a resin casting! Anyways thanks for clarifying that for me and everyone and yes, it's VERY nice. It's sure a heck of a lot better than the factory tank and is easy to detail. The bottom of the tank is very nice as well and I'll take a picture when I have a chance.

That's a nice tank, too bad you can't buy one to fit the atlas frame without doing a bunch of grinding.

That's a nice tank, too bad you can't buy one to fit the atlas frame without doing a bunch of grinding. Randy: Brian could probably design one to fit like that...but the frame still needs to be cleaned up a bit for the tank to look "right", IMO.
