Well, I had great hopes for a Chessie GP38 project I had started well over 15 years ago. It was an Athearn shell and chassis, but I had added many details to it. When I went on hiatus from the hobby to work on the real railroad I packed up and never saw it again. As some know, i've not been able to go into the basement due to my health, so I go to digging into a box in the garage.... FOUND IT, but its in about 50 pieces. So, I picked all the details off her and put it in the parts bin.
I also found an older Chesapeake & Ohio F unit shell that is now crying for my attention!!!!! Oh the humanity, the horror. I believe we have all been there before.
Although I had to chuckle, sometimes things happen for a reason you know! This might lead me to a Atlas GP38 custom Chessie job!

I'd never seen a conventional shell "shatter" like that, now resin on the other hand yes. I'm wondering if the heat made it so brittle, but I've had shells like that in the same circumstance not do that.
Now, if I had a use for a high hood SD35 or GP40 in Chessie paint I would be all set. LOL

How about a run through N&W unit? Ya know in all the pictures I have either online or in my collection for the C&O Of Indiana, I've yet to see much other eastern stuff. I've got shots of Milwaukee units and a few SP's. I guess I could, I'm sure one did at some point.

I think they had 3 or 4 lines in Indiana with taking over NKP and Wabash.

I think they had 3 or 4 lines in Indiana with taking over NKP and Wabash. Ya, both myself and RedP worked on former NKP territory that became NW. Let me think. You had Clover Leaf (Toledo-StL) NKP Chicago (Buffalo-Chicago) NKP Muncie (Fort Wayne to New Castle) ------Connersville and Rushville Branches NKP IMC (Indianapolis - Michigan City) Wabash Gary (Montpelier-Chicago) Wabash Huntingon (Detroit-Decatur) The only side note to that is the fact that the NW looked to the C&O at one point in the late 70's to move it Chicago bound traffic. They wanted to run the trains to Muncie from Cincinnati then over the C&O the remained of the trip to Chicago, and wanted to use NW crews. I've been told several reasons why this failed to happen, and ultimately the NW rebuilt the line from Muncie to Fort Wayne to handle this traffic. I also owed my railroad career to this line! It became the NS New Castle District!

Why not chop their noses and do them as Chessie units? I mean, canon and co. cabs would do the trick! (Then again, I DO miss the CIOR. )

The CIOR isn't DEAD!!!! Trust me, its still alive and will have a future. The nice thing on this railroad is that its also on the modern CIOR system. Soooooo.... Its the reason I'm not selling the High Hood engines off. I figure once I get the layout up and running again I'll start back into it. Building engines.

The real reason Matt isn't selling his high hood engines is because he knows that I want them! Christian

It's nice to hear that you won't convert the CIOR units into Chessie locomotives.

It's nice to hear that you won't convert the CIOR units into Chessie locomotives. The line I model is in the modern CIOR system, so as some know I've got a plan down. As soon as I'm done with the addition of Chessie era stuff (which I am minus a few GP15T's then I will start adding in F units and GP7/9's in C&O paint and then start adding in that 50-60's era freight stuff. I will also continue to add to my current modern era collection to make it work! I figured this way I can have all the best of the worlds and do what I want. I can get 3 feels out of one layout! Initially I planned on getting rid of the modern stuff, but have backed off that idea as time moves on. However some of my Conrail stuff has already found homes at friends.... A certain above forum member is getting a couple of them...LOL (just not those high hoods....sorry people, inside joke!)
