I haven't seen this in past postings, so I thought to post this just to get my feet in the water, so to speak.
Many of the E & F units we build have walkways from the cab, forward to the nose grabs. In the past I have replicated these with 3/64 angle simply glued onto the shell. I have found that drilling and attaching Tichy rivets thru the body not only enhances the detail but adds to the strength of the joints. I also use the rivets to attach the brass base brackets I fashion for rooftop oil coolers and grates over HEP fans. I still use C.A glue at the surface joint, but the rivet glued inside the body assures the bond. Looks good to.

Hey, Dave, show us a photo of your work, using the techniques you describe. We are all interested in seeing "how it's done"!

The picture posted is simply a no. 77 drill bit thru one of the mounting holes in a walkway angle iron. I'll try later tonight to post another picture.

This is a picture of an E-unit rooftop fabricated oil cooler and HEP cover grating. The brass brackets below them are glued with C.A. and pinned with rivets in pre-drilled no. 77 holes, thru the roof and glued on the inside of the body shell.
