I decided to play around with the new camera and take some pictures of one of the GP30s that is in the works. This is my favorite GP30 since it is an oddball after receiving a replacement fuel tank. It still has a little ways to go be ready for paint. Here is a link to the story on this unit: atsf.railfan.net/oddities/sf2764.html

Eric, That looks great, good choice for that oddball, question is, Blue and yellow or bogus merger colors?? I need more time and money so I can get some GP30s going.

Thank you for the compliment. I am building it as it would appear in 1995 just before merger so it will be blue and yellow. However the paint is peeling so it will get a little bit of SPSF red too. One of these days I will do a C30-7, TP&W GP20 or an SP unit so I can work in some Kodachome.

Good stuff, Eric! I see it's got the flat windshield too.
I went through my roster shots and I don't have one of this one or any other of the other 2700's you are doing. I know I've got more pics somewhere, though.

Thanks for the compliments. I have gotten some more work done on it so we should see some paint here in a few days.

Looking good. I've had to change 1:1 loco fuel tanks out using a tele-boom, not so fun. What's the addition under the conductor-side window?

What's the addition under the conductor-side window? Looks like a cab vent detail.

Poandny, I can imagine that would not be fun changing a fuel tank out on a 1:1 scale loco. ICGHogger is right that is a cab vent. Also thank you for the complement. I did get some painting done, but it was just the fuel tank and trucks. I am very pleased with the way the fuel tank turned out. I still need to build the sand filler hatch for the rear then it will be ready to get some primer. I like to use white primer to go under the yellow.

Great job Eric! After seeing the pic on Evans site I planned on modeling this unit someday too! I'll get around to it eventually.
