It's been a while since I've been able to work on any projects, but thanks to March Break the production line is rolling once again. I'm working on a "secret" SOO GP9 for a friend, i.e. he doesn't know about this very late (or by this time very early) birthday present. I've started with a GP18/20 from LL, and backdating it. It is one of the late GP9's with partial skirting and repositioned fuel filler. Prototype: I started with a painted MP model, so I removed most of the ugly (to me) P2K details and stripped the shell in 99% Isopropyl alcohol. Here's a photo of the stripped shell, and a few of the details purchased: It's a pretty simple project, and I hope to finish it by the end of March break.

Looks to be the same that I just did. I modeled SOO 2411 with the low nose. I also started with a GP-18, one of the early P2K units, with a low nose. I added the 24" fans and the radiator side grill conversions. It made a nice model.
Good luck, Todd Monroe

Thanks Todd. I was originally looking at modeling 2411 as well, but decided to model 2412 in order to keep this project a little simpler.
I have done a good amount of detailing to the unit, and will post photos soon.

Here's an update on this project. Many details added but still many more to add, holes have been filed and still need to be sanded down: Hope to be ready for painting by the end of the weekend.

Back on this project now that the summer is over. I had taken many photos of the progress made, detail parts applied, primer and various stages of paint but can't seem to find them. Might have deleted them by accident. And now my camera has died, the only thing I can show is screen captures from a 12 year old video camera, I'll give that a try tonight to show the paint all completed. Looks good I might add. ;D I made the beginners mistake of not painting over the same colored paint, i.e. one of the parts didn't have the same base, so the red when dry was a different shade... back in the alcohol! But now it looks pretty good, a bit splotchy but weathering should hide that pretty good.

Thinking of getting a P&S, or venturing into the world of DSLRs?

Looks good! Thinking of getting a P&S, or venturing into the world of DSLRs? I'm tired of getting a crappy P&S every year that doesn't take very good photos. I think I'll wait and actually save for a DSLR, might even look for a used one from a year or so ago that hasn't been too badly abused.
