Has anyone else done this? I have the resin flared radiator section and the resin cab (which was pretty rough I must say). They are shaping up fine. I have removed the details from the hood top above the prime mover but now I'm trying to figure out how to properly do the dynamic brake air intake grlls, which are different on this version than the grill on the Athearn Genesis SD70M model I've used as a base. Am I going to have to fabricate this or is there a detail part out there? I'm considering making one out of HO 1x4 plastruct but it will be difficult to get it perfectly straight. Here's a good photo; the grill is immediately behind the cab: www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=466337Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks that is good advice.
I'd like it to be see-thru, for ventilation if nothing else since I may install a Tsunami in there.
I think the model will look fairly prototypical... there will be some minor discrepancies but overall it should look good (to those who care!). Thanks for the response.

Hi there, can I ask where you got the resin kit for the flared radiators from? I am trying to build a collection of UP SD70M's in both standard and "flared" radiator form for my Donner Pass layout.

@ Julian: This is the discussion with all the links to the site where you can get the conversion castings. dieseldetailer.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=que&action=display&thread=3554I'm doing the conversion myself, but hadn't really looked all that close at the dynamics on mine. I know they are upside down, but I would destroy the parts getting them back out of there, and the unit will be black anyways, so I can't really say that I'm going to worry about it too much. As to the quality of the castings, well, some of the bubbles and stuff are just in the nature of the resin casting material used. Not much you can do if those are the parts you need. I agree about the roughness of the cab, that will take some work to make look good.
