Are Hi adhesion trucks available? Still rounding up parts and info for NYS&W C430 build. I have a couple C425's with AAR trucks, but Squeak had ex NYC/PCunits. Where Hi-Ad trucks suitable for this build done or is this a scratch build? Is this a 60/40 tank? looking for diamensions. Noticed different bearing covers.

Tiger Valley Models has this sideframe available in white metal. You should be able to contact him from the manufactures section of this forum. OOPS, I thought that there was a section for Tiger Valley. Doe's anyone have contact info for Kevin?

I removed Mr. Mack's message board because after almost 2 years he never contacted any of us.

I don't think he has his website anymore , the last I heard which was 3 months ago that he was not in good health. Possibly Tim S. at www.empirenorthern.com/ may be able to assist.. He's my dealer and a very nice gentleman. Tom

Thanks guys! I tried finding Tiger Valley without luck. Everything comes back 404. I had the day off so I've been drilling through links and countless web pages to see what I could come up with. Alco is tough. All the more reason to model. There's some hardcore fans out there. Leave it to me to zero in on the most obscure, no matter what I do. Here's a few things I came up with... Video, starting a C430 on the WNYP Great sound! www.rail-videos.net/video/view.php?id=7786&quality=lShowed my wife, first thing she noticed was the air starter! Am I a lucky guy or what? The operators manual for a C430, It also has links to part identification table. Nice! gelwood.railfan.net/manual/cm3-gen.htmlA nice drawing of Hi-ad trucks. Sorry I forgot to get the credit info. From what I gather, they ran on 40" wheels and the WB was 9'4". Answered my own question, The tanks have 10' and 9'6" bulges. I guess you would call it a 50/50. The Atlas Canadian tanks for the 424/425 would probably work fine if someone didn't want to go to allot of trouble. They're available on Ebay. The trucks are going to be an obstacle. Jay, if you can find those TV trucks I'd be interested in them as a starting point. I did come across a picture of them, they looked rough. I think I have someone that could cast white metal parts if I had masters. The chances of seeing them in plastic are probably slim to none. I was looking a GE U23 trucks that Atlas did. (red box) could be a starting point. Thanks for all your help!

For anyone else doing a 430 I also found these drawings. Looks like we'll be taking a ride out to the WNYP this spring, what a shame, we'll have to stop at Steamtown and Altoona on the way. Thank God for railfans! Model Railroader did an article on the C430 Sept. '86, Railroad Model Craftsman Nov. '85. Time to dig through the archives. Dollars to donuts those are the one's I'm missing!
