Hey everyone-
Here's a BNSF GP38-2 that is RCL equipped. All material costs kept this one right at $100. That may not sound like 'budget', but when you think of the uniqueness of it, I think it's fairly budget.
So, what does everyone think?
Most details were rooftop, but I also added some pilot details.

Very, very nicely done.
Judging from the lack of walkway tread, open pilots and solid steps, you started with the Athearn BB or RTR GP38-2, right? It's still a great shell.

I didn't want to dump too much into it, as we all know that steps, tread, underframe details, and correct pilots would have taken this unit closer to $150. My next 'budget build' is gonna either be an SP SD40R(Kato SD-40) or an RTR DRGW GP35........haven't decided yet. Thanks, Rick

I love this Rick! I am a sucker for RCL units because of all of the fun stuff on the cab roof. VERY well done! You made me want to do one now!

If no one is in the cab then what's with the air conditioners?

Beautiful JOB!! A/Cs keep the receivers and computer stuff cool, so there is no malfunction, Funny how the RCL get more creature comforts than most manned Locomotives.

I kinda wondered about that myself.....plus, the crew isn't ALWAYS out of the cab, like when they have to travel through the outskirts of town to get to a heavy industrial area.
