Starting my first ever build! Seemed like a good idea to start off simple so I'm doing a GATX Geep. #2648 is a GATX GP38-2 rebuilt from a former Conrail (ex PC) GP38 that is currently leased by our local shortline, Marquette Rail. It's pretty basic as far as GP38's go. I started tonight by disassembling the unit, removing the cab and headlight glass, attaching the right fuel tank, and using my pin vise for the first time and drilling a hole in the dynamic hatch for the horn stand. Since I'm back and forth between home and college this build won't be going as fast as I'd like, but I think I'm off to a good start!

Looks like you are off to a good start.
I wonder if the painter knows that he missed a spot, like most of the roof.

It's a former Conrail unit. They all had that oxide red on top.

The painter didn't miss the roof Eric it was painted that way because it was in the cheap build category ;D Are you going to use decals from Highball Graphics Jonathon? I think so. Haven't really started thinking about that yet. Yes, the roof is blue, as it will be on my unit. In the future I'd like to give it a good "rust dusting" like so many CR Geeps had once my weathering skills improve a bit. ;D
