Rudy, Steve is absolutely right, another good weathering job! You should try your techniques on the buildings behind the hopper. They look great from here , but just a little too new for my tastes!

"Due to the poor economy we are no longer serving coffee, only Imitation coffee." Looks like the track behind it is out of service too

The track in the background is still in the process of being laid!
The track directly behind the row of buildings is in service as an industrial branch. I want to replace the green fence with some kind of mock retaining wall to help separate the scenes, since that branch is supposed to be many miles down the main line from the street scene!

They're oil pastels, not powders. Check the "NEW TOYS!" thread for the brand and what the box looks like.

Very interesting. Certainly looks like a much better product than the weathering powders by Gunze. There is not much available in weathering products locally, but there are a few art supply stores. You have sparked my curiosity enough to buy some to try. Matthew

Rudy, now that you've used the pastels for a couple of weeks, how many colors in the set are useful for weathering?

Honestly, I don't know that I've explored the set to its full potential yet. For general weathering, I would say that there are four or five shades of brown/tan that work, as well as about 6 shades of white, grey, and black. But I think you could possibly use the rest of the colors to roughly color-match paint and do paint fades and bleed-throughs. I will be trying this out on a RDG SW1500 that I'm CR-ing, I am going to try to fade the Reading diamonds with some green pastel. I'll post the results. This set was $7 from Amazon.com, free shipping. You don't need an art supply store at that price! Any chance of a video showing how you use these?
