Well its finally finished after all the questions and such. I have lightly weathered the unit and fitted the tsunami decoder. it has an oval speaker in the long hood. i had to do alot of mods to the weight to fit the decoder and speaker and it just fits. it turned out ok. thinking may need some additional weathering.... have not decided yet.Turned out good for an outlay of only 80 dollars.

I really like that one. The GP-30 is a locomotive on it's own merits.

That was great. Now I feel motivated to get out there and start painting again....but alas, it is an extremely cold day here in the DC region so I'll have to wait it out. Supreb craftsmenship! Almost makes me want to do some Chessie units again Almost?

no the unit was originally painted in BN colours. i stripped the shell and painted it with floquil paints. the colours i used was armour yellow for the faded look in the yellow. cn orange mixed with some armour yellow to take some of the red out and floquil dark blue. these colours seem to look great in the flesh but i have found the yellow doesnt photograph well. subtle weathering ties it all together well. the floquil paints i find work alot better for me as they are forgiving with mixing as well as being able to paint in all kinds of weather. i painted this unit on a 37deg C day (just under 100 deg F) with 82% humidity and paint went on flawlessly

Beautiful job, I assume that is a Proto Unit, but I am not sure, so is it Proto or Bachmann?
