looking great so far! You may also want to consider the new scale-width coupler pockets from Details West #363. I'm thinking of applying these to my SD45T-2.
Cheers, Harry

Those are Details West pockets on there now. There are other ones?

I have some resin prototypes of the DW pockets on my SD40-2 projects... but no photos unless Hussey's or your pics from the 07 WPM happen to show one of my Toosh Dahs with the pilots visible. I still haven't figured out what coupler I'm going to use - probably a 58 or 158 without a centering spring just tacked in place. Andy (yeah it's me - this is my "car forum" screen name) Hey Andy! I say just file down the "fat" parts of a 158 shank and diagonally jam that modded 158 into the scale width pocket, either that, or, build a slightly wider pocket out of Evergreen styrene, and get things to fit. That's what I did on my SP U25BE (before the DW 363s came out). Cheers, Harry

Looking very nice! What method did you use for attaching the photoetched deck treadplate? I have read a few different ways, and I am getting ready to use it for the first time on an Athearn SD40-2 I'm doing in Southern.

That looks super Randy; I've always liked how much the DW traction motor cables improve the looks of the frame area. My postal carrier delivered my factory painted Southern Dash 2 today, and i can't wait to get started on it once the few details I'm going to add to it arrive. Again, nice job; can't wait to see it painted.

I ground off the extended range dynamic doors today and I'm installing the speedometer cable and slip indicator heads today. I've got a new airbrush coming.

The Athearn SR SD40-2 in my opinion one of the most nicely detailed diesels straight out of the box I have ever seen. Going to use Bob Harpe's clinic from awhile back to correct the "step" in the cab roof and for guidance in adding the basic details, plus I'm planning on adding traction motor cables, PE deck plate and steps.

My last details have been added. Now this one is going on the shelf until I paint it.

I'll try to get some up on Monday; I'm leaving today for National Fire Academy for training this weekend. So far I have added most of the Cannon PE decking, OMI horns, fixed the "step" betwen the cab roof and high hood, and removed the numbers so as to renumber to a different unit. Received Cannon DB & radioator fans in the mail yesterday; the Athearn ones probably are sufficient, but I just like the satisfaction of assembling the Cannon ones and how they look when done.

No they used them that way a lot. I refer to them as "all weather wind deflectors" as that's what they used them for.

Randy You are using a Kodak CX7530, (before Randy starts looking for minicams hidden in the room, I use a program called Opanda IEXIF which tells a lot more about pics than you need to know) and the camera doesn't look too bad and has some good qualities about it. I have a friend who has a fairly decent Kodak camera but the bundled software is not great. I do see that it only has a 1/10" minimum shutter speed but will go to 800 iso, which I am sure it is probably using under lighting inside. If you take those pictures outside under the natural lighting (or throw some extra wattage at it when shooting inside with some of those halogen worklamps) you will see a big difference in picture quality.
I love the traction motor cables too, especially when viewing from eyelevel. I found that I needed to check truck swing on a couple as they may interfere with the movement of the trucks but that was on my Dash 9

I used it for the SD-40 photos, but not for these. (the SD40-2) I have Medium Format and 35mm Film Cameras that would beat a digital camera hands down, but I didn't feel like setting one up and then going to the drugstore and all that crap. I'm the owner of The Camera Collector On-line Magazine and Forum, and I'm one of those Film Camera users that hates digital cameras. Soooo...you won't see me spending any money for an upscale digital camera soon as electronic media gets out dated so quickly. THE CAMERA COLLECTOR ON-LINE MAGAZINE & FORUM
