The fade job looks good. Pretty darn close to a pic I copied off the interlink of 355 in 1978.

That looks good to me. I need to start working on different weathering methods myself.

Thanks for the kind comments, guys. This is an Athearn BB model that I was challenged to do. I custom mixed the paint to get a different shading of orange and a faded black from the start. I use Americana Acrylics. Fuel Tanks: Pier, the Milwaukee ordered many of it's diesels with smaller capacity fuel tanks to reduce the overall weight on the rail of the locomotive. The GP38-2s were like the SD7s of old, intended for branch line service which often had poor quality light weight rail. Both had single 1750gal fuel tanks. EDIT: On a side note regarding the small fuel tanks, I pulled out a decorated Milwaukee P2K SD7 last night to begin updating it to my era, and the Milwaukee fuel tank chop job. It is going to be a challenge to chop that tank and retain the integrity of the frame. Perhaps I'll have to model the 2 SD7s the Milwaukee had which were equipped with both 1750gal tanks. This won't help me with the SD10s I have planned, however. I model the Milwaukiee Road Northern Montana Sub near the embargo of the pacific extension where the GP38-2s were first assigned. My models reflect that area and that time frame and is why not many appear to be new, but rather appear neglected as that was the case on the Milwaukee just before the embargo.
