Looks great! That's what I need, a dioramma.

The "square box" or more accurately it is a mounting plate. The Milwaukee had this crazy idea that electronic crossing bells were the future. That "plate" on the roof is where the loud speakers were mounted. The speakers came in a couple of variations. This model represents what the unit would have looked like in the late 1970s after the electronic crossing systems were abandoned for the more traditional pneumatic crossing bells which most lines always used. You can see it just above the number boards in this photo. www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=96311When scrapped, the loud speakers were removed at some point. Probably in the next rebuild. The mounting plates, however, remained. I have exaggerated the size slightly for effect and durability. Thanks for asking.

Randy, yep. A diorama makes a huge difference in the photos. I'm still trying to find a good back drop to use with it.

Again, great work. I also agree about the diorama. They seem to make the locos stand out better to me.

Thanks Sarge! This is my first diorama. Still have a lot of learning to do in that part of the hobby.

Bob, I think you flattened out the "diorama learning curve" on your first try! You certainly taught me a thing or two! ;D
