Here is a pic of my CN GP-40-2W project. Athearn blue box GP-40-2, Details Associate wide cab, Cannon & Co. rear end and inertial grill. This is a low cost mod since most parts are made from scratch using styrene e.g.: electrical box, brake recess, non dynamic brake cover, steps assembly, snow shields. I still need to do some modification to the anticlimber and cab to make it more accurate.

PEIR I plan to do the CN 9468 North America paint scheme. Looks like you're off to a good start! I shot that unit back in 2008 in the Toronto area. It appears to have had some patching done on a few engine hood doors on the right side:

Some progress done.
I replaced the old Athearn Blue Box motor/drive/trucks with newer RTR parts. The wheels are now 40" instead of the oversize 42" and it is a big improvement in the overall appearance of the model.
I applied a base coat of Floquil (solvent based) primer to make the acrylic paint stick to the Athearn factory paint.
The color for this project are Testor Model Master Chevy Engine Red, Polly Scale Reefer white and Engine black. I will use Microscale decals for the yellow stripes from their CN North America set.
Thats it for now, more to come soon.
