Drawing inspiration from the fact that so much of the PRR was abandoned by Conrail, I used this fact to my advantage to create a Regional Railroad. The Pittsburgh and Allegheny Eastern was created from parts of the Pennsylvania west of Pittsburgh. It's original line was the Pittsburgh-Columbus-Dayton-Cincinnati route, but soon the Pennsy's Columbus-Akron-Cleveland line was added, and the NYC's Dayton-Indianapolis line followed. The NYC route from Dayton to Toledo was added in 1979. Original power for the railroad was 50 old Conrail GP7/9's, SD35's, GP30's, GP35's, and F7's. Now the main power of the PAE is a batch of 23 SD40-2's of BN and Union Pacific Heritage. 15 Ex.SP GP40-2's were later added to the roster, along with 12 ex.Canadian National GP38-2's (Ex.GTW/DW&P, Nee. Rock Island). 7 SW1500's manage yardwork with matching slugs, and 10 SD50's have been purchased from Norfolk Southern. SD40-3's from Alstom have also begun to earn their keep on a previously doomed rail network. Here is The System Map: img67.imageshack.us/my.php?image=paemappf1.jpgAnd Two Ex.BN SD40-2's: 9156 and 9166

Great minds think alike - almost. A long time ago (I may have been 16 or 17) I had envisioned a pair of affiliated shortlines based in the Western P.A. region. These were the proposed roads:
* Pittsburgh Allegheny & Western * Allegheny & Monongahela Valley
I even had a holding company name picked out, but it escapes me at the moment. Alas, the proposed rail system never saw the light of day and no physical evidence exists.

Whats going on with the progress of the PAE ? Nothing Much. The railroad's progress has stalled due to a lack of resources, and it may have been hit by a tidal wave of G&W orange.

I meant that the GNWR will be a major interchange partner of my railroad. (I may change the name in the near future.) Who knows, I could drop the entire concept.
