Guys, if you'll attend the Savannah Prototype Modeler's Meet next March, you'll be able to see these cars up close and personal and I promise that you will not be disappointed in what you see. Bobby scratchbuilds most of the detail parts found on each car and each detail is painstakenly installed in the correct position. A lot of the words that you see on these cars are lettered one letter at a time because the words cannot be found on any available decal sheets. Fantastic modeling!!

Thanks alot guys. Nobody enjoys admiring the model building of others more than I do, so, if what I do is pleasing to others, I'm happy.

Wow, you do some nice work! I really like the DUPX tankers, I have one of the eight-axle units under construction myself. I'm stuck on the tank right now, but I'm thinking about thermoforming it around the pipe I'm using right now. Any chance you'll tell us your secrets?

Scott, Kevin, Thank you for your kind words. Kevin, which car are you building? I'll be more than happy to help any way I can.

Your tank cars are great, I especially like the Bromine tank car.

Thank you very much Richard. To tell you the truth, I bounce back and forth on which one I like best. You'd have to see the Bromine car in person to appreciate how small it is. 2225 gals is a small load, but Bromine weighs 27 lbs a gal, and is nasty stuff. The tank is Lead lined so it won't get eaten away.

Bobby, awesome tanks. I've seen the bromine cars in person and they are tiny! They're like the ore cars of the tank car world.

Greg, Andrew, thank you and I'm glad to be here. I'm building a eight axle Vinyl Chioride car. I'm also up grading a BLI P-2 UP AC60CW. I have the top done, including the correct OMI stacks. I need to move the air tank back and install SV stanchions and brass rails. Photos to follow. The URL shows the V.C. car i'm doing. Outstanding work! ....and tank cars do indeed RULE! Where do you get your working data? I have had the opportunity to take several hundred detail shot of the big Glycol units that were in service to Celenese Chemical back in the 70's and had one opportunity to take some measurements off of one of them but that was obviously pre 911. I am finding working data harder and harder to come by....any tips would be appreciated.

Railfan, thank you. and it's good to talk to another tank car fan. I lucked up and was loaned factory plans for the three Railwhales. I still had to go by lots of photos that I was given by friends, and some I took myself. The Railwhale site has many great detail photos. I got the data for the Vinyl Chioride project from the CSX UMLER, and by sizing photos by the truck wheelbase.I'm doing the car in ESMX, (no metrics) but it was also CCBX and VICX. Bobby

I am also a huge fan of tank cars; seems I can't get enough of them.

Richard, The Feb. 2001 isue of MR has the drawings and a article on building the Bromine car. It's a O gauge build, but no problem to convert to HO. There are several photos on the photo sites, including one from 2007. They used plastic for the walkways, but I used metal on the lower and plastic arround the dome. Bobby
