Hey Gang, This is my first post with pics so go easy on me! I picked up a P2K GP38-2 for cheap several months back to represent one of the ex TP&W units on my ATSF roster. This was one of the units that came with the cab roof painted blue! Since the locomotive looks pretty good out of the box, I set out to just do a minimalist detail job on this one just to help it look more at home with the rest of the ATSF units that work on my layout. I finally took the time over this past Labor Day weekend to fix it up with a few details - I figure this project took about 2 hours total. The only “surgery” I had to do was move the headlight to the nose. Then I added the A/C unit, sunshades, and antenna planes / antennas before respraying the roof - I got lucky and got a pretty close match with the factory paint. I then renumbered it, weathered the trucks slightly, added the decoder, plow and couplers and now it’s ready to go to work.

Hey Sammy that is nice work for just a couple hrs.. You have showed others with just a modest amount of work you can produce something pretty nice and believable....
Looking at your it is very impressive.I really like your SD45B and SD45-2B,are those brass or kit bashed? Could we get some close ups of those if possible?
I have a friend that models and is on here but is not active to much but he lives in Tulsa...
Keep up the good work.....

Sammy from the pictures it loks like you nailed the yellow very good. A couple of hours of work has gotten you a engine that will work for several years hauling tonnage on the Hereford sub. Great job. Glenn Hoover

Great job Sammy, the weathering really pulls the whole thing together and makes the added details and repaint blend flawlessly!

Nice layout. The Santa Fe is also my "other" favorite railroad; I actually was into the AT&SF before becoming a Chessie fan. Excellent work.
