Greetings!
I just bought two N scale Atlas Dash 8-40BWs with the same road number (ebay) and two N scale Atlas Dash 8-40CWs that are unnumbered. Can I remove the old numbers on one of the 40BWs? If so what products do I need for the task? Also I see that Microscale has the decal sheets I need for the ATSF superfleet in N; are they good decals or is there a better choice for N scale?
Many thanks, Brad

Welcome aboard Brad I usually use a Q-tip dipped in alcohol and gently rub the numbers off. Microscale is also the brand I would use.

Would have to second what sarge has said. One note would be to follow directions for using microscale decals if you have never used. Make sure surface you are decaling is glossy first of all. Then use Micro sol and microset in your decal applications per the directions on the microscale website.

A belated thanks gents! I assume that this technique can be used for the other markings the OEMs use decals? For instance Kato is releasing BNSF warbonnets and theoretically all I’ll have to do is remove the BNSF and perhaps the road number and replace it; is that correct?
Many thanks Brad

That should work. Sometimes the Kato printing can be a bit of a challenge. Patience and working a little at a time should do the trick.

I will throw my technique in, works well for me, I lightly wet sand the numbers off with 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper

Hi all, I use the paper rod from the Q tip dipped in denatured alcohol. I cut it at an angle to get into corners. Karl
