Uncle Jay, last month I ordered several sizes of phosphor bronze wire (sizes from .008" to .040" in foot long and three foot long lengths) direct from Tichy. The brass wire in the photo is a DA product from one of the area hobby shops that I picked up over a year ago. On-line, you might also want to try Small Parts for the brass wire. Their on-line catalog shows how many of an item they have in stock before you order, so it saves some steps in electronic shopping.

Thanks, Stephen, I know what you mean. Free-forming is both a waste of time and material for me. I have stopped using wire altogether for my early-era freight car builds and gone to styrene rod for brake rigging, brake pipes and truss rods. Reverse bends are a little tricky because you have to use some heat to get a good bend. I plan to try styrene rod instead of wire for air piping on one of my Railflyer builds.

Robert, very clever jig you've got there... Looking around, I have all of those parts in my stash so I, too, will be copy-catting your idea.... ;D Hopefully most of my parts come in today... I'm getting a little trigger-happy :

Go ahead, Andy, I gave up trying to patent it, so it is in the public domain now......and looks like you are off to a good start

Thanks Robert ;D So this is the 233 plow from Details West: After some work I ended up with: Close... Not exact, but I'll get over it some day... Modified the railing: Also started on the side steps: That's enough for today... I really should get some work done... ;D

Glenn, Steve, Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'm still waiting on that lubricating cabinet to be in stock so I can order a few final parts with it... Most annoyingly I realized I picked up the wrong decals... "Quality" logos for CR's GE engines... They have the Q after the titles instead of before... oops. ;D

Anthony, I appreciate the link. They have it in stock, but they don't have some of the parts for my next project in stock... No worries, though, the shop I buy from got the part in yesterday so I should have it soon.

As always guys, thank you for the kind words. ;D Stephen, it's been decided that 3214 will live longer and more prosperously in my fleet as 3239... This engine stopped me on the way to work about a month back: an NS high nose in horse head scheme?? I had to model it....
