Hi all,
I've recently acquired an Athearn AC4400 unit and am planning on overhauling it and repainting it in UP's one-off 'Gray Ghost' scheme. All the detailing parts are on hand and the correct paint has finally been found! However, my area of uncertainty is the Detail Associates grill set that I would like to install. My question/s are:- 1. How easy is it to cut out the existing moulded-on grills on the bodywork? 2. Would it be easier (and just as effective visually) to leave them as is and merely overlay the D.A. ones (darker colour on the underneath surface to give the illusion of depth)? 3. Is anyone aware of where there may be diagrams/pictures of the process?
I'm by no means a professional detailer but do enjoy the more challenging aspects of the hobby.
Many thanks for any guidance.
A.
