Here are the beginnings of my Norfolk Southern B32-8 project. The cab, dynamic brake section, and sill unit are from the Atlas B40-8. The engine & radiator compartment comes from the Atlas BW32-8. Lots of small modifications to all these body sections are necessary to make a proper NS B32. For one, you'll see that the jack pads under the cab have to be moved in order to match the B32's truck spacing (one side's cut out already and one side is being filled in). Next task would be to tackle the longhood end (not shown yet). So far the body has been ungloriously impaled on an unmodified Atlas U23B chassis for effect. I haven't quite figured out what to do as far as providing a proper frame & running gear for this engine. Seeing that the parts are there for it, I've always wanted to add this rather unpopular engine to my roster. I plan to have this model in it's latest configuration with all the frame stripes horsehead logo and possibly cab A/C. If you're working on one, feel free to tack up your NS B32 models to this thread. It'd be great to swap notes and ideas on all the details.

Pete, your B32 is really shaping up and looking very nice. Please contact me if you need more detail shots of these locomotives as NS keeps two of these units here in town.

Nice splicing. With that short frame it smacks of a C-424.

That loco's sitting waay high just like a C-424, huh? But it looks like the Atlas B23-7 chassis is what's going under my B32. I really appreciate the input guys. Especially the measurements Dave because I didn't have too look anything up!
Bob, I'll contact you soon, it's been a very very long time. Thanks so much for your offer.

I've been down this path with my NS 3535. Had to cut the frame and splice in a piece of steel to get the front coupler box out to where it should be, and have the space between the steps and the trucks.
Hope you use the Shellscale decals. They're beautiful.
If you're really picky you may find a couple of doors have the latchs wrong for a B-32. I didn't find this out until the decalling. It's not a real big deal in the overall picture.

This is one project I have in my head and I plan on building one day. The B32s are unique locomotives... I was pretty much looking at the same shell you put together, So we have that in common. I would assume the Atlas B23 frame would be the best to go with it sounds. Of course their will be some much needed modifications to the shell and frame to get it on there... Great work.. Keep us posted on this one! David S.

Hey Guys! Sorry for the lack of updates on this.
I had been reactivated & sent overseas for the later half of last year. I'm back now and I'll have to pick up where I'd left off over the summer. More shots of the model will post as soon as I get back into the swing of things.
Thanks for your patience.

Pete, Whats the latest with your model? It's been several months now, enquiry minds want to know.
