I have been away from modeling for a while, and now that my son is getting back into model trains, I have a renewed interest in working on models again.
I am a prototype freelance modeler modeling eastern Nebraska in 2012 at a junction on the BNSF. The BNSF part of modeling is as close as I can make it to what was happening in 2012, but I also have a railroad(which did exist briefly) that is to my own. My railroad has acquired retired power that has either been exported or gone to be scrapped. Most of the power will keep it's previous paint & likely also road numbers, which will make for some colorful power combinations.
My son has created his own railroad which will be the primary focus of our layout at this time. The story behind it, is that it is operating the BNSF branch line that leaves the BNSF Lincoln-Denver mainline. There are 6-8 industries that will make plenty of operational opportunities.
I always thought it was special to spend time playing with Thomas or running trains on the 4x8 oval I built with my son when he was younger. Now that he is 19 & has a greater appreciation for an operational layout, I see what a true gift it is to have a son with the same love of trains.
I look forward to seeing all the models from years back that inspired me to try something new & all of the other great models yet to see.
Thanks for reading!
