Got a kato CNW Ho early SD40-2 coming soon.
My question is this.
Does anyone here do soda blasting as i need this Cheap & Nothing Wasted paint stripped off this kato shell.
As i have lost in the past kato n scale shells to baths/dips when i was in N scale.
And the Ho SD40-2 early grill shells are rare as hens teeth.
As this unit will become one of my freelance roads bi-centennial unit's.

Blasting with baking soda is a good choice on plastic. Keep your pressure between 40-50psi and keep the tip moving. If you see the paint is still in crevices, just keep working the tip in a circular pattern until the paint comes off. Do not hold the tip in one place for more than a few seconds so the detail lines stay sharp, as too long in one spot will erode the small details. Good Luck!!

Thanks Robert but I don't have the equipment to do it.
Hoping someone here could help me on that front.

Vince,
I am one that has embraced "grit" blasting on my HO models. One thing I would do first is soak that Kato shell in 91% Iso alcohol for a couple of days first and then scrub with Dawn detergent. Why do this, well it will remove most of the paint and cut down on the amount of soda you have to use. While your at it, disassemble the trucks and blast the sideframes as well, makes them easier to paint and weather.
As for equipment, I use a Paasche Air eraser. There are others now though including ones from Micro-Mark and Harbor Freight. I don't have links to those but should be easy to find.

Guess I need to say it a different way who here can soda blast this shell for me.
As I have no space here to do it myself due to a strict landlord in this rental I'm in.
