As I mentioned a few weeks ago on the new member form. I’m somewhat of a old model railroad modeler back in early 2000s, but now that I have some downtime I want to get back into it. Here is what I have lined up for the summer if time allows - as I am a wildland firefighter All 5 of these locomotives are lucky eBay finds that are used but in great shape 3 X Ex-Oakway SD60s One orange and gray SD40-2. When I found it on eBay it was already painted orange and gray And one stripped down GP30. I would like to try to keep the SD60s in the white and blue and maybe make them a patch job / used and abused locomotives that have been tossed around on different roads. The orange and gray SD40-2 I have no idea what I’m going to do with yet and I’m not sure if I’m going to keep those colors or not - any ideas would be helpful lol And the GP30 I thought about maybe attempting to make a Utah Belt little guy? As I’m getting back into model railroading I have found that there is a guy out there ( can’t remember his name right off ) who has made the idea up of Utah Belt. I was thinking about making one single Utah belt locomotive on my rail line. Since it has been many many years since I have done anything with the hobby any ideas would be helpful. I’m really excited about spending my free time back doing this hobby. If I could figure out how to upload pictures I would show the locomotives. www.flickr.com/photos/169671515@N05/32053799167/in/dateposted-public/#Thanks, Daniel

Welcome Daniel.
Sounds good.
Utah belt Eric Brooman.
Utah Belt never had any gp30's just saying.
And the sd60's are actually 2 in emd demo paint and 1 in oakway color's.
Following along with interest.

Thanks for the info Vince. Yeah I looked at the roster on the Utah Belt and never noticed a GP 30 but hey I figured, there’s a first time for everything. Speaking of Utah Belt, Do I have to ask Eric for permission to build/copy somebody’s else’s idea on a locomotives?
And thank you for the info on the SD60s!

For your own personal use not really I have several Utah Belt unit's I need to refresh i built back when he lived in Florissant Missouri before the move to the current layout.
Fairly nice guy where he gets mad is these people building his unit's then selling them as original Utah Belt items.
I've talked with him and understand where he's coming from.
So if you plan to sell it I would get his okay which most likely will be a no.
For personal use your fine.
Hope this helps
