Just picked up the A-B set the other day. Don't look half bad. I will scratch build the HEP exhast, install correct horns, grab irons on sides, mu hoses. I will post pics when done

I got them too for my son,good price for what they are. Just a note the real F9A's are only a shell as both were rebuilt to GP40-2 standards,this was told to me by the engineer when they were at the strasburg railroad

Awesome. I myself am only 13, but I sure do love model railroading! Making your own locomotives and cars is the best part of the hobby itself. Anyways...the HEP exhast is finished. I'll post pics later.

Okay so now ditch light holes are drilled and HEP exhast is finished. I am going to send it to Charleston Digital Trains to have DCC/sound installed. But you said they are rebuilt to GP40-2 standards? What engine do they have in them? This can be a problem cuz the engine is apparently not an F unit prime mover...

Opps wrong info,They were rebuilt to GP38-2 standards. Has naturally aspirated 645-16 prime mover w/cummins genset AAR control stand.They were rebuilt by MK sometime in the early 80's for MARC,former B&O F7s
