Hi all,
I have been in lurk mode for what seems like ages. Enough.
I have struggle with my free time and modeled what turned out to be less-than-interesting, and I am returning to modeling the BN over Stevens Pass 1986-1993 (turns slowly to the module I have been trying to finish since 2002). Even that appears to be an insurmountable
task. I need a turnout that is a "true" #10 or larger. I need a headblock signal that (now, finally) I can assemble myself. Many of the cars and locomotives are manufactured now, and they all need "adjustments". By the time any of this becomes a "going concern", hopefully the more scarce items will become available.
I have scratchbuilt and sold over 50 woodchip cars of BN heritage, most types that they ran in that era. What was once done rather quickly, now takes at least 3 times as long with the new materials and details available. I will still need to scratchbuild these cars.
Stevens Pass will be my modeling location, I spent years living in the area; there are too many memories to go on and not model it.
I remember first hearing a digital diesel sound system at a shop, running around a layout. To me it sounded like a mechanical refrigerator car. ESU Loksound Full Throttle finally brought sound that I recognized from my years along the line. As far as preferences are concerned, that is a "game changer".
Hopefully I can get this project moving forward. But I need to glean the information I DON'T have from others! Perhaps along the way I can be of some help here and there.
Glad to be "active"!
Stan
