Although none of the three specially designed lightweight trains had a long-lasting career I like the look of the power units. First of all the famous LWT-12 of the Aerotrain - I already have built this in 1.5" scale. Next is the Baldwin's RP210. Decision has to be made for either chosing NYC's Xplorer with a sharknose design or the simplified nose for NH's Dan'l Webster. I'm quite sure to go the sharknose-way. Due to the lower profile the RP-210 is incompatible with standard passenger cars. I'll have to add at least five cars of the lowered Talgo-design to make a 'shortened' version of the nine cars of the prototype (one center car with two axles and four on each side with a single axle). Update: Work on RP210 has started RP210Still not sure about NH's FM 12-42 ... Regards Norman

There was an article in B&M Historical Society “Modeler’s Notes” about kitbashing the FM lightweight locomotives, which the New Haven also had. I remember that the basis for the cab and nose was a cut down C Liner body.

Hi
Hope progress on the RP210 is going well. What body did you decide to kitbash ? (HO)
I have drawings of the RP210, but not of the Dan'l Webster passenger cars. Where are they available ?
Thanks
Charles Harris

@charlie As already mentioned, I work in 1/29. However, If I would tackle the RP210 in H0, I'd use an old Tyco Sharknose shell to start with and trucks of an old Athearn Bluebox PA (front truck with removing the center axle, is almost 15' wheel base, rear truck with removing the outer axle - a SD40 would fit better for the rear, but may have different gear ratio than the PA-truck; or idler rear truck with smaller wheel diameter acc. to prototype). Diagrams of the cars are rare - some floor plans and a side view in 'New York Central and the Trains of the Future', Car Builders Cyclopedia 20th edition. Plans for the FM12-42 and RP210 (bothNH and NYC-version) in Locomotive Cyclopedia 15th edition. Regards Norman
