Hi all,
New to the board here, my name is Matt Smith, I live in Toledo, Oh., and work for CSX (17years) as a engineer out of Willard, Oh., and North Baltimore, Oh. I have been modeling in some way shape or form for 30 years. I am originally from the Saginaw, Mi., area. I was originally going to model CSX out of Saginaw, Mi., as if they never sold it to a shot line (was sold in 2005 to the Lake State), and what I would have to guess was my biggest "claim to fame" locally was I am/was scratchbuilding the CSX Track Geometry Train and the OCS cars and locomotives. I recently decided I needed a change of pace and have started getting rid of my CSX stuff, and am moving on to model the Soo Line in the UP of Michigan in the 1977 - 1983 era. First big modeling project of the new "era" was to kitbash 8 Atlas WV Cabooses to closer match the Soo Line cabs. Hope to learn a lot more on the boards here and maybe share a few things along the way.
Thanks, Matt Smith Toledo, Oh.

Welcome, Matt. BNSF engineer out of Texas here.
I have always had a soft spot for SOO extended vision cabooses, too. I modeled each variation in CAD and enabled each for sale as 3D printed models on Shapeways. You can do a lot with the Atlas model, but the X-panel roof on late cabooses isn't easy to model without printing or buying brass.
