This brass model is just a minor detailing job. The cab has just been painted with decals. The motor has been insulated and calibrated, then gearbox lubrificated and all has been installed and fits right in place. The huge tank has been filled up with lead and die cast blocks for a mere 220 grams worth of traction weight. Now I just received parts by mail and it needs the ditch lights an MU stands. The frame will then be completely painted and the last part will be LED lights, speakers and decoder installation. My layout foreman is checking couplers alignment here. Some will notice that I need to remove a spacer above the trucks as they sit 1/16-3/32" too high above the frame. They look OK next to CP9811, but since the frame was not screwed to the shell/cab; pilot is bending downwards. I used custom made plastic spacers for maximum electrical insulation which i will either replace, or grind down to the right thickness. Note: if an administrator is reading this post, maybe shall it be moved to a more adequate section such as MODIFICATIONS AND ENHANCEMENT... Not sure I can do it myself. Stephane

Thanks. It's done now (and looks much better with the paint completed), but under good hands of my friend which will do the programming (LokSound decoder) on it and another brass custom of mine: CP6252 EMD SD60. The latter required more customization so it took me a while. I've kinda slowed down with diesels detailing, as recently I've had a weathering fever for a couple grain hoppers and boxcars. Winter virus I suppose I'll do layout pictures (and an operation video) of all of that by end of the month, once everything has been tested. Stephane

Project update. Here are a couple pictures. Not much to say regarding detailing; Details added involved the ditch lights, MU stands and hose, then the decoder (Loksound) and LEDs. A video will follow shortly. Hope you enjoy. Stephane

Thank you guys. Now I believe my honk isn't as the prototype's. I will reprogram it eventually. And its missing the left hand side mirror, which I have found. Oh well, basic maintenance; almost there. Still, here is the first run video: YouTube VideoS.

Damn Photobucket froze my account. I no longer use them: all of my stuff is on Flick'r now. The blue I am using is regular Tremclad straight-out-of-the-can blue, as it happens to be same as Conrail blue. I use oil based paint for all my projects, even weathering. But for most projects I pre-mix my own colors in order to achieve a faded out CN orange, or CP red, for example. Blue devil was that same blue, but washed out with white. I do all my painting in gloss, then I dullcote some areas, depending of how aged is the prototype. I the case of this CIT, it's been painted in late 2014 at CAD works in Montreal. My reference model year being 2014 (for 90% custom work I do, only exceptions being now scrapped tank cars), I only slightly dull coated the top of the body. Now I don't know if Tremclad colors are the same in US than Canada, but that's what I used. Hope this helps. And thank you for the nice comments.
She is my favorite consist motive power: just as heavy as my Broawway Ltd Import AC6000, as I have heavily ballasted the tank with lead, then a very smooth runner, and impressive machine even in that scale.

Thanks Bob. Now I just noticed that I have installed Kadees #5s instead of prototypes #156s.

Thank you for the information on the Blue, will definitely check that out! I've always been a fan of the bold blue that CIT used! And good to see the photos again, its absolutely stunning now in large resolution! I can see why she is you favorite!
