Hey Gang,
Heard a WOW Sound decoder for the first time yesterday and the name fits !!!! It inspired me to dig through my boxes and find my old Atlas c30-7s... Well, I can't have such awesome sound coming from such a jenky shell. I am okay with good enough, but that radiator section needs some serious help. Looking around, B23-7 radiators are hard to come by and apparently so is a lot of the nice looking wire material that used to be available.
So, who has some suggestions on how to get the shell to look a little closer to the awesomeness of the sound decoder within? Primarily, what ideas are there for that horrible looking radiator?
Thanks!

Would grafting of a B23-7 radiator section onto the C30-7 long hood make it a good enough model? I know of a couple of B23-7s for sale at a hobby store for a decent price. This would be for a complete model of course. A different locomotive, but I'm doing something similar to create a U23C. I merged the parts of a U30C and a U23B to get what I needed.

I did some *QUICK* research and see that one could use the vast majority of the B23-7 shell and splice in the two sections from the C30-7 to create a *better* C30-7. This would ultimately depend on the 'phases' of the two locos as to whether or not you end up with the version you want to end up with. I colorized a C30-7 drawing from Trainiax, the green pieces are common to the B23 and the C30. That's one of the cooler things about GEs, the way they are modular Lyle

Lyle - do you still have that colorized C30-7 drawing? I don't see it here in this post. I'm starting an ATSF C30-7 project and am contemplating using the B23-7 shell myself. Thanks! Paul
