While poking around on the Diesel Detailer forum yesterday, I came across a link to a company that makes a kit for an MLW S13 to fit either onto a Bachmann S4 or Athearn SW1000/1500 chassis. Here's a link to the site: pmimodels.netfirms.com While looking at this model, I got thinking about the possibility of converting it into an Alco S6. I looked up the prototype dimensions of both units and the differences are tolerable (inches in difference for most with largest being only one foot). Some of the dimensional differences may have to do with the frame used, but I'm not fully sure about that. Now for the most important part. I've been trying to observe the visual differences between the two models to see what conversions would be needed. An obvious difference I've noticed is that the walkway lowers slightly creating a step near the front pilot of the carbody. Another difference I've noticed is the number and placement of carbody filters. The S6 looks like it has three filters on one side and possibly five on the other. For the S13, it has four filters on one side and six on the other with four of them being grouped in a square shape. If anyone else knows any differences please feel free to reply to this post Blane
