Good evening!
I recently acquired one of the LL Proto 2000 GP9 Phase 3 units, and for the life of me I can't find which railroads purchased that model of unit. I know the NKP and CN had some, but who else originally bought them?
Thanks!

B&O, UP, CN, CP, GEXR, QNSL (2), Algoma Central (2), Rock Isle, Seaboard, NP, SP, and more - there were a whole bunch of roads.

PRR. I just happen to have the Diesel Era with their last orders.

Add Lehigh Valley and Nickel Plate to the list.

Would the PRR Phase 3 units have had dynamic brakes? More importantly, would they have made it to MI/ON?

Your best clue is the DBs... no NYC early GPs had them which leaves only...
You can add N&W and NKP...

No NYC GP9s had DB, but GP7 5686-5708 did have dynamic brake.
All of the PRR GP9s (A and B units) were DB equipped. It is quite likely that PRR GP9s made it into Michigan on the line to Detroit. In the early '60s GP7 and F7s were the road power for the GR&I. Some of the ex D&H RS2s also used on GR&I but they did not have MU so were towed back and forth to Ft Wayne.

MILW had 52 Phase 3 GP9s, with dynamics. Built from FT trade ins. One of the few groups of MILW engines that didn't get renumbered at some point.
The P2K Phs 3 GP9s had the dynamic hatch misshapen. The grills on the side didn't extend down to the top of the hood doors like it should.

The C&O's last group of GP9s, delivered in 8/57 were phase 3 units according to Extra 2200 South and the C&OHS.
