N&W 1728 got its chop nose courtesy of the Reading when it was wrecked there in 1975, and it was really wrecked. www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2915957 I bet if a GEVO or ACe sustained that much damage today it would be razor blades. PVRR2647

81" is the standard on the SD45.

Whoa! Reading had some mad skillz to bring that SD back from the dead! I had no idea that NW had a low nose SD45....now its on my to-do list!

You break it, you fix it. Metro East and Mid America are very good at heavy wreck repairs, very hard to get the owners (usually a bank) to write off a locomotive involved in wreck.
