I thought I would make this trend to show the changes I made to my SD60F after dismantling it from a previous build. I wasn't happy with my first build and I found a few things that are incorrect. here is a list of what was and is going to be changed. Dynamic hatch fan Internal filter hatch Dynamic break intake grills Radiator fan hatch still going to change the exhaust stack front and back porches with steps Q fans from the P2K SD60 Detail Associates GP9 winterization hatch almost all the parts were cut from the donor P2K SD60 shell. I'm really happy with how the rad fan hatch turned out, it was cut from the donor shell and sanded down. The GP9 winterization hatch is the correct size, the edges had to be angled. the one that's included with the kit is too short.

A little more progress, you can see the steps look much better now. here are the original ones that come with the kit. and here are the modified SD60 P2K steps all the roof details have been changed even the fan hatch, I still need to add the exhaust stack.

Great idea, and looking good already. I wish to do such a rebuilt with CN unit #5550 too, eventually. But if you're as successfull with it as with your GP9 slug, that will make an awesome collector piece.

Artur~
I see from the photos that you appear to be using the Banna method of drilling out the stanchions and inserting .010 brass wire for handrails. Are you using a jig like Brian has, or are you just free handing it? Your comparison pictures remind me of the Catfish moniker given to NS CW40-9s'.

PVRR2647 It was free hand and then I realized that the stanchoins are already pre drilled from factory. They have the plastic hand rails pushed through and glued but if you pull on the hand rail hard enough while holding the stanchoins it will slide out. I'm keeping all the stanchoins for other projects and the ones I cant pull out get drilled out.

If you do as well as you did with CN slug #249, it won't take long before that tread becomes hot too... Keep on posting, you work really is inspiring, well to me anyways. S.

Beauty work as always! (except for the so-so MS decals) I'm biased...

Thanks, this board and everyone here has been a big help. Indeed, and I am myself walking in your path for my slug. Your pictures are a valuable tool for all the detailing. And yes, that's the benefit of being member of a forum, as well as a RR club: sharing knowledge and common interests. Your paint is flawless. Very impressive work. One couldn't tell if its straight out of the box or scratchbuilt. Really like your work. S.

Very nice work Artur, is there other decals out there that would work for these units? I have 2 sd60f and 1 sd50f on the bench at the moment and getting close for paint and decals.
