Well, the SD40 is 90% done. I do not have any new photos up on my web site yet. My camera is being sent in to Canon today for warranty repairs. By the time I get it back, the SD40 should be all done and buttoned up.
Last night I started building the cab interior. Tonight I will paint it. This weekend I hope to get all the electronics done. Lights tested, sound tested and the decoder programmed. Once all that is done and the cab interior is installed, I can button it up do some final detail weathering and t will be done. My good friend Chris Zygmunt is going to fine tune the sound and the decoder for me. He is a pro at all that and can really get these things tuned perfectly.
At first when I weather something, I do not like it. I set the project aside and when i come back to it the next day, the weathering has dried and the effects are what I want. The SD40 was no different. Now the more I look at it, the more I really like how the weathering came out. This unit has a severe weathering job on it and at first it started looking like I just dumped paint all over it. Now though after a lot of wash and dry brushing, the effects have taken shape and look like I wanted them to.
I have already started two new projects. A CR GP38 and a RDG/CR GP30. The GP38 is a standard Atlas model with the frame rebuilt. I ti snot going to be in the standard CR blue paint though and it is not in any predecessor roads paint. You'll just have to wait and see ;D. The GP 30 is a standard P2K shell. I have modified a Kato GP35 frame to fit the shell to. I have also completely rebuilt the frame to accept the small P2K GP30 fuel tank and also to have a full fish belly frame. The main frame construction is done on both units. The detail work can begin. I have also finished the truck detailing on the GP38 and have given them a silver primer coat.
