Still lurking, still lost in the freelance world but I have made no real progress in the last couple of years. Below is a photo I took of some of the PW's ex club locos on the local clubs layout, the background added in with photo shop :-) Its been a long hot summer down under, far too nice to be indoors, but this winter I fully intend on extending the PW roster, which is an EMD dominated one, based in the upper west in 1989. More to come. Drew

Drew,
This club you are a member of. Is it a US based theme or an Australian based theme layout?

Hi The Pacific Western was the fictitious name used by the Auckland Metropolitan Model Railroad Club. Not sure what's happened in the past 20 years or so, but prior to that it was located in the Auckland suburb of Hillsborough in an old school building. In the mid 90's, about the time we saw the light and left Auckland, they were looking for a new home as a motorway was being built through the old school area. The operation was very much Western U.S. with some fine models and scenery. Some of the modellers I can remember specifically modelled Rio Grande, MoPac, SP&S, SP & UP, and one the GB&W. They were a great bunch of guys but sadly I've since lost touch with most of them.
Brian, as Kiwi's, I'm sure they wouldn't be overly insulted by the Australian reference.
Cheers Steve NZ
