I have a P2k SD45 and am wondering about the holes behind the cab on both sides of the long hood. There are two on the RHS and one on the LHS. To me it looks like they are locating holes for a detail to be added but based on my knowledge and looking at photos, there is not supposed to be anything there.
I wonder if anyone can explain these holes or is this just a major screw-up in the tooling that was not corrected before "hitting the factory production button".

I've looked at photos of Southern, N&W and CSX SD45's and I do not see any drain holes on either side of any of these locomotives. Bob

I recall when these first came out someone saying they were based on a BN prototype. Those holes may be some specific detail to them.

I have a P2K SBD SD45 and I filled those holes with round styrene tubing. Those holes look too big to be drains. Earl...

When they first came out, this was an issue flying around several Yahoo groups I'm on. They erred and made the drain holes much too large. Much much too large......
