I just purchased this P2K gp38-2 on ebay. www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/920-31051. I was wondering if anyone knows if the trucks and fuel tank are the correct color. The only pictures I've seen of these are sort of dark and can't tell whether the trucks and tank are black or if they really are the same color blue as the body paint. Also what color blue do I need to paint any detail parts this model will need to match the blue on this particular model?

I believe it is safe to conclude that the trucks and fuel tank should be black, not blue. Based on other photos, I think it's safe to conclude that the LIRR seldom washed anything below the walkways, so after a little while in service they were so weathered that one couldn't tell what their original color was. I agree, I definitely think they're supposed to be black, thanks for the pics. I got the train in the mail today. Anyone know which paint I should use to match any add on parts with the blue body color?

But why trade it for a worse paint scheme?
NY&A is a better railroad, but I just like the MTA colors better.

I ended up selling this engine on eBay about a week ago. I got contacted by the buyer and said he tried running the engine and it doesn't move. He said the headlights come on but the motor just hums and the more he turns up the throttle the louder the humming. Does anyone have any insight on what the problem could be so I can get back to him, any help would be appreciated.

The grease could be dried up in the trucks or worm gear bearings seized, he may have to take it apart and test to see, and clean/relube.

Thanks, that's exactly what it was. He ended up calling Walthers and they walked him through everything he needed to do. Thanks.
