Nick I have a question what type of pliers did you use to make your coupler levers with ? or did you use a wire bending jig?

Nick I have a question what type of pliers did you use to make your coupler levers with ? or did you use a wire bending jig? Yo Terry! I just used fine point tweezers and a pair of fine point pliers. I probably should've used a jig though. Anyway, I forget the name of the pliers but I'm fairly sure I remember getting them from the MicroMark site. I'll try to remember to look at them when I get home to see if there's a model number on them. I also use brass wire, not piano or steel wire. I hope that helps my friend!

Sweet start! I must ask, are those open wheel bearing "covers" that go around the axle custom or a part? I model the CSX also, so these would be very helpful if they are indeed commercial. Hi watchyourstep! I'm sorry I didn't use your name if it's in the sig. My phone doesn't show that. Anyway, I made those bearing covers myself out of sheet styrene. It's actually fairly easy if you want to try. Also, thank you for the kind compliments on my efforts!

Coming along nicely, quick question. I want to add the spare knuckle to the rear pilot to a csx engine I have and it says to drill a .031" hole, what # drill bit is that?

I'm sorry, one more drill bit question. What size did you use for the bell? No worries Bob...glad I can help. I believe it was a #66 but could've been a #65.

what did you use for the toilet drain pipe?

what did you use for the toilet drain pipe? I used a piece of scrap styrene and shaped it for the angled base piece. I then took a leftover piece of sprue, heated it and stretched it to get the diameter I needed for the pipe piece. After that I drilled out the center with a small drill bit. Once it looked like a pipe I carefully cut the "pipe" piece off and glued it to the angled base. Thanks for asking Steve!

That came out GREAT, Nick!! I'm getting ideas here to "borrow" from you. I'm doing what Terry knows as my "Frankenstein". It's PBRR's own version of a SD40-2, with a blower instead of turbo... It's so far, a GSB, Athearn, Kato, P2K build !! I've mentioned that although I'm an OLD modeler, I've only been in the superdetail game for 4 years. I'm here to learn still....

I'm really impressed with your build, AND the methods. I love that gizmo you used to bend the sander lines with! .... the thing that holds the sideframe.

Sounds like you're building an interesting locomotive. Be sure to post pics so we can check it out. The gizmos I'm using are called a "Third Hand Soldering Station" and a "Soldering Tweezer w/h Stand"...they're only $20-25 combined...and very "handy". I'm not actually bending the "sanding lines" with it. I'm using it to hold the lines and sideframe in place while the epoxy cures. The "sanding lines" are actually solder and is very easy to bend. I had to use solder because I couldn't find a detail part made that looked the way the sanding lines looked on the proto. I could've used wire but I didn't have any that looked the right size. Even the solder looks a bit big to me but that was all I had.
