Kato GP35 Truck question/ help needed

Hi Guys,

 I am looking to model a Kato GP35 with Alco trucks. Has anyone done this conversion and if so what parts did you use? Plus might you please explain how you did it. Or can the side frames on the Kato EMD truck be swapped out with a different manufactures AAR side frame?

Erik,

You need to order Stewart ALCO side frames PN0176 and PN0191. These are a direct fit into the Kato GP35. Bob Harpe used these on one here:

They are a direct fit, because the Kato/stewart ALco sideframes have the wrong axle spacing and were a compromise to use the EMD based gearcase.

Alcos are 9'-4" axle spacing, the EMD blombergs are 9'-0"
