Analogbeatbox~
This is an Excellent model as well, I wasn't really into Southern or Norfolk & Western motive power until NS created PAS with PanAm. The more I get to see their stuff the more I like it. Just a couple of questions; could this be called a SlushBucket? Or was that term reserved for the SD26s and not pure SD24s? I wish the 26s were still around though, I miss them and the HH45s in East Deerfield. It's a shame that the last SD26 was cut up several years ago.
Sincerely, PVRR2647

The Southern RR stuff connects with me because I grew up in S.C. and remember seeing them all the time. As far as the loco being called a "slushbucket"...I have no idea. I've never heard of that. Maybe someone with more knowledge can drop it on us?

Nick~ I remember going to East Deerfield yard once and there where 3 SD26s sitting next to the "Chucky" track, another foamer called them "SlushBuckets". I asked why they were called that, and he told me that was what the AT&SF called them. I don't know if this applies to the 24s as well as the 26s or just the 26s.

PVRR2647 Well, I wonder what he meant? Furthermore, what is a "chucky track"?

Nick~ It's a mystery to me how the 26s got that name, that's why I asked. The "Chucky" is the name on a switch stand leading to a spur on the far left of ED yard (viewed from the "Railfan Bridge"), I guess it used to serve a feed mill and the owners name was Charles, or at least that's the story I've always heard.
Sorry to HiJack your thread, I wasn't intentional. We now return to your regularly scheduled program.
